cPanel Web Hosting Explanation

For your information, it's useful to be aware that the majority of the cPanel hosting offerings on the present website hosting marketplace are generated by a quite insignificant business segment (as far as annual money flow is concerned) known as hosting reseller. Reseller website hosting is a sort of a small-size business niche, which generates a big amount of different web hosting brand names, yet offering exactly the same solutions: chiefly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Because at least 98% of the hosting offerings on the whole web hosting market furnish the very same thing: cPanel. There's no variety at all. Even the cPanel hosting price tags are similar. Very much alike. Giving those in need of a top web hosting service virtually no other website hosting platform/website hosting Control Panel alternative. So, there is simply a single fact: out of more than two hundred thousand website hosting trademarks all over the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2%! Less than 2 percent, mind that one...

200k "hosting firms", all cPanel-based, yet differently labeled

The hosting "variety" and the web hosting "offers" Google presents to all of us come down to just one thing: cPanel. Under 100's of thousands of different hosting trademarked names. Imagine you are only an ordinary guy who's not very well acquainted with (as most of us) with the web page making processes and the hosting platforms, which in fact power the different domain names and web portals. Are you prepared to make your hosting pick? Is there any web hosting alternative you can settle on? Of course there is, nowadays there are more than two hundred thousand website hosting vendors out there. Officially. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than 98% of these 200,000+ different website hosting brands all over the world will give you exactly the same cPanel web hosting CP and platform, branded differently, with literally the same price tags! WOW! That's how immense the variety on today's web hosting marketplace is... Period.

The hosting LOTTERY we are all participating in

Simple math reveals that to encounter a non-cPanel based web hosting provider is a great stroke of fortune. There is a less than one in fifty chance that something like that will take place! Less than one in fifty...

The advantages and disadvantages of the cPanel-based hosting solution

Let's not be relentless with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was fashionable and possibly answered all web hosting market requirements. To put it briefly, cPanel can do the job for you if you have only a single domain name to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Inconvenience Number 1: An idiotic domain folder configuration

If you have 2 or more domain names, however, be ultra watchful not to remove completely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will refer to each next hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domain names are very easy to erase on the web server, since they all are located into the root folder of the default domain, which is the quite popular public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder placed inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to remove the files of the add-on domain names, please. Verify for yourself how terrific cPanel's domain name folder system is:

Are you getting nonplussed? We surely are!

Downside Number Two: The same email folder arrangement

The e-mail folder arrangement on the web hosting server is exactly the same as that of the domains... Repeating the same mistake twice?!? The sysadmin chaps firmly fortify their belief in God when tackling the e-mail folders on the e-mail server, hoping not to botch things up too badly.

Negative Aspect Number 3: A complete shortage of domain administration menus

Do we need to refer to the sheer lack of a modern domain name management interface - a place where you can: register/move/renew/park or manage domains, edit domain names' Whois details, secure the Whois info, modify/set up name servers (DNS) and Domain Name System resource records? cPanel does not incorporate such a "modern" interface at all. That's a considerable drawback. An unpardonable one, we want to add...

Inconvenience No.4: Numerous login locations (minimum two, max 3)

How about the demand for an additional login to use the billing transaction, domain and tech support management interface? That's aside from the cPanel user account login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel-based hosting corporation. Sometimes, on the basis of the invoicing system (especially conceived for cPanel only) the cPanel hosting company is making use of, the avid customers can wind up with two extra login locations (1: the billing transaction/domain name administration software solution; 2: the trouble ticket support interface), winding up with a total of 3 login locations (including cPanel).

Negative Aspect No.5: More than 120 web hosting Control Panel areas to pick up... swiftly

cPanel presents to your attention 120+ areas inside the hosting CP. It's a fabulous idea to memorize each of them. And you'd better get acquainted with them fast... That's way too impertinent on cPanel's side.

With all due appreciation, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel hosting suppliers:

As far as we are informed, it's not the year 2001, is it? Remark that one as well...
